Don Cherry, the flamboyant host of Hockey Night in Canada, recently spoke at a swearing-in ceremony for Toronto’s mayor. And, not supringly, Cherry’s speech was colorful to say the least. In his speech, some of his notable call outs are pinkos, bicyclists, pinko newspapers, left-wing kooks and jerks. You can read the full transcript here.
Growing up in Detroit, channel 9 was the CBC for me which is the station that broadcasts Hockey Night in Canada. Those hosers are passionate about Hockey Night in Canada. For those of you who may not be familiar with Cherry, he is like a combination of Craig Sager’s suits and a drunken Lou Holtz. So yeah, the contents of his speech aren’t really surprising at all.
