It’s one of those moments when Twitter gets overloaded and people can’t access the social media service. Just when fans wanted to tweet about Kobe Bryant’s last game and the Golden State Warrriors’ quest to break the single season record of 72 wins, Twitter went down. The timing was impeccable. It occurred right when Bryant scored the first of his 60 points in his final game.
And the system overloaded to the point where Twitter had to acknowledge it was having problems and the Lakers Twitter account went down for a period of time:
The outage monitoring service Down Detector had more than 2,700 complaints about Twitter going down at 10:48 ET on Wednesday:
And reaction to the outage was swift. Well, swift for an outage.

The Lakers had to take drastic measures by tweeting from an alternate account:

But everything was finally resolved soon afterwards and people went back to tweeting. Twitter finally gave the all clear after the games had ended.
The issue has now been resolved, thank you for your patience. https://t.co/SdU8w4qCbU

Everyone was relieved and Twitter went back to normal. It goes to show that when there’s a big event, people can still take down Twitter at a moment’s notice.
