Fox Sports’ Clay Travis has been well-known for his feuds, which this week alone have included battles with Black Lives Matter supporters, ESPN’s Bomani Jones, and the head of Barstool Sports, but it’s new to see him feuding with a local weatherman. That’s what happened Wednesday, though. Travis has been complaining about snow predictions for a few days, and took things to a new level Wednesday with this screenshot and tweet about a local weather forecast:
Y'all know how I despise hyperbole. But everyone in Nashville is dying Friday night if this snow forecast happens. pic.twitter.com/ZmLGVxchfo
— Clay Travis (@ClayTravis) January 20, 2016
That led to an incredible response from Paul Heggen, a weatherman for Nashville NBC affiliate WSMV 4:
Fantastic. 48 hours of "will it really snow 15 inches" questions, all because WalMart Skip Bayless posted the worst-case model w/o context.
— Paul Heggen @paulkpix.bsky.social (@PaulKPIX) January 20, 2016
Heggenn said the “Walmart Skip Bayless” slam isn’t original, but it’s certainly notable (although Travis should perhaps be associated with a more limited Southern chain? “The Publix Skip Bayless”? “The Belk Skip Bayless”?). It led to a further back-and-forth between the two, too:
@paulheggenwsmv Subtweeting's like jerking off in the closet while someone else screws your wife. Something you're probably familiar with.

Have a nice day, Clay.https://t.co/StHBVWe4xC https://t.co/QuCaH8l5Lb

Judging by this tweet from Travis, too, this would seem to be far from the last feud he’s planning on:
The goal of SEAL Team Clay is to be the most destructive humor force ever created in social media history. We wipe out PC bros. With humor.
— Clay Travis (@ClayTravis) January 20, 2016
While ESPN personalities have been suspended over much, much less (don’t say you believe in evolution!), Fox has made it very clear they’re fine with Travis’ content and personality and with not having editorial control over his Outkick The Coverage material. So, we’ll likely see plenty more of SEAL Team Clay. We’ll see if his next targets are as good with a comeback as Heggen, though.
