ESPN’s SportsCenter was doing a UNC-Duke preview Wednesday with former UNC player and current Tar Heel Radio Network analyst Eric Montross when things got weird on the audio front. Here’s the segment:
There’s a sound of something popping and rushing and a “Whoa” at 0:03, then Montross’ voice cuts out for a few seconds the comes back, then music starts cutting in over him around 0:15 and keeps rising in volume while his audio cuts out. SportsCenter anchor David Lloyd mercifully ends this at 0:24 with a great look of dismay (pictured above) and “We’re having some trouble, obviously, with the audio there.” Indeed. This stuff does happen in live TV, and it happens to everyone, but this was a particularly blatant example of everything going wrong.
