The Blue Jays fan who allegedly threw a beer at an Orioles outfielder during the AL Wild Card Game earlier this month “has left Postmedia,” according to The Globe and Mail.

Pagan has been identified by police as the man who threw a beer can toward Orioles leftfielder Hyun Soo Kim during the seventh inning of the Oct. 5 game, which the Blue Jays eventually won. Kim’s teammate, Adam Jones, claimed both he and Kim were confronted with racial epithets as they turned around to face the fans.
That Pagan worked for Postmedia is amusing in the wake of the $1,000 reward offered by the Postmedia-owned Toronto Sun, for information on the beer-thrower’s identity. It turned out the paper had put out a bounty for someone in its own company.
Pagan was charged with mischief for throwing the beer, and police said he was cooperating fully. Pagan has hinted that there’s more to the story than was was captured on camera, but we don’t know what exactly he means. Via the Toronto Sun:
On Wednesday night, Pagan said he’d been advised by his lawyer, Frank Genesee, not to speak about the incident but did suggest the police may have it wrong.
“I was drinking out of a cup,” Pagan told Postmedia, and suggested Twitter photos that show him after the can was tossed clearly indicate he had a cup in his hand. “I’d love to tell you what happened and my story … but I can’t say anything.”
The story that Pagan claims will exonerate him wasn’t enough to save his job. We’ll see if it’s enough to keep him from a criminal record.
