Toronto Sun offers $1,000 reward for information on Toronto beer-tosser, who may be company employee

The American League Wild Card took a nasty turn after a Toronto Blue Jays fan threw a beer at Baltimore Orioles outfielder Hyun-Soo Kim during a live play in the seventh inning. The toss turned scandalous as the Blue Jays apologized and promised to up security, Toronto Police issued a statement asking the person shown throwing the beer to turn themselves in and the Toronto Sun newspaper offered a $1,000 reward to anyone who could identify the “loon ball.” Clearer pictures of the potential tosser eventually made their way online.

On Wednesday night, a potential suspect was revealed as Ken Pagan. The kicker? He’s an employee of PostMedia, who own the Toronto Sun. Yes, the Sun potentially offered $1,000 for information on a man who is part of the company who owns them.

Pagan commented in Warmington’s piece, saying he was advised not to speak about the incident. He suggested police could be wrong about the incident.

“I was drinking out of a cup,” Pagan told Postmedia, and suggested Twitter photos that show him after the can was tossed clearly indicate he had a cup in his hand. “I’d love to tell you what happened and my story … but I can’t say anything.”

It’s hard to say with certainty Pagan was the beer-tosser. Yes, he was the man police were looking to identify as a suspect. But, there’s no definitive evidence Pagan threw the beer.
