Longtime CBS voice Jim Nantz is known for being an avid golf enthusiast. Nantz’s admiration for the sport is evident every time he steps into the booth for the network on its golf coverage.
Nantz’s enthusiasm is also shown in his own backyard. The venerable commentator had a Pebble Beach replica golf hole in his backyard near that course for several years. Recently, following his move of his family to a Nashville suburb so he can spend more time with them during the year, he built a new epic one in his backyard there.
Nantz’s recently-created backyard golf hole closely resembles Augusta National’s 13th green, including a creek replica and three tee positions (of five overall) representing the famed third shot there. It also includes a leaderboard, a “Hello Friends” sign, magnolia trees, azaleas, and much more. Adam Schupak of Golfweek reported on the hole.
As Golf Digest noted in their own story on this, this is just the latest expedition for Nantz following his previous replica of Pebble Beach’s seventh hole. Golf Digest boasted that he owns “two of the best backyard golf setups we’ve ever seen.”
Anyone in Nantz‘s position who isn’t doing something like this is probably losing out on something. If you have the ambition and the means, then you might as well go all the way.
