Michigan Wolverines fans will be treated to a member of the “Fab Five” calling their game Tuesday night.

Per an NBC Sports spokesperson, Jalen Rose will be on the call for Michigan’s tilt against UCLA at 10 p.m. ET, exclusively on Peacock. It will be Rose’s first game assignment for NBC Sports since being tapped as a studio analyst for Big Ten College Countdown in November. Rose appeared on the Peacock studio show earlier this season.

NBC Sports’ Terry Gannon will serve as the play-by-play announcer alongside Rose in Pauley Pavilion on Tuesday night.

Rose has long been a presence in television basketball coverage, though primarily on the pro side in recent years. The 13-year NBA veteran joined ESPN in 2007 as a college basketball analyst before joining NBA Countdown in 2012. Throughout his ESPN tenure, Rose was a common feature on much of ESPN’s NBA shoulder programming. Rose left ESPN in 2023 as part of the widespread layoffs at the network that summer.

When it was announced that Rose would join NBC’s college basketball coverage this season, many speculated that the job was a precursor to a potential role on the network’s NBA coverage beginning in the 2025-26 season when the league’s new media rights deals kick in.

Whether that’s the case or not remains to be seen. But given Rose’s (so far) limited role in the network’s college hoops coverage, this was perhaps a way for NBC to get him on the payroll early on in the race to secure NBA studio talent for next season.
