If you’re a fan of metaphors, Florida State football coach Mike Norvell’s press conference after Saturday’s was significant.

It’s no secret that things have not gone well for the Seminoles this season. Florida State dropped its first two games of the season, losing to Georgia Tech and Boise State to start the year 0-2. Things only got worse on Saturday, as the Seminoles fell to 0-3 following a 20-12 loss to Memphis.

During his press conference, one of Norvell’s talking points was naturally, how to turn things around. Only, he didn’t get to finish that thought.

“I tell it to teams all the time. Momentum takes one play. I mean, that’s it, that’s all it takes to change it,” Norvell said.

At that point, a loud alarm began to sound. Norvell continued to talk — but only briefly. Shortly after the alarm rang, Norvell — and everyone else in the room — evacuated.

Andy Staples of On3 Sports shared the sequence on Twitter (formerly X) and included the caption, “Heavy on symbolism.”

Certainly not a great omen for Norvell, the Seminoles or their fans.
