Sinclair Broadcast Group is launching a slate of team-specific college football podcasts in conjunction with its TV stations in key markets around the country. Ohio State, Texas, Notre Dame, and Alabama fans will get new shows featuring a star-studded lineup of hosts, led by Cardale Jones, Vince Young, Mike Golic Jr., and Trent Richardson.
The new podcasts will be under the umbrella of AMP Media, Sinclair’s digital content brand:
The Script: A Podcast On the Ohio State Buckeyes will be hosted by Jones, Beanie Wells, and WSYX anchor Dave Holmes. WSYX will co-produce the show.
The Dynasty: A Podcast On the Alabama Crimson Tide will be hosted by Richardson, A.J. McCarron, and Alabama radio voice Chris Stewart. WBMA will co-produce the show.
The Stampede: A Podcast On the Texas Longhorns will be hosted by Young, former coach Mack Brown, and sports director Bob Ballou of WEYE, which will co-produce the show.
The Echoes: A Podcast On Notre Dame will be hosted by Golic Jr. and Jessica Smetana. WSBT will co-produce the show.
While local news stations are a little late to the party with sports and news podcasts, they certainly have the resources to create strong production value and the connections to reel in big-name hosts. Local college football fans accustomed to getting news on their favorite teams from local TV networks will now have an even richer source of content with this new wave of Sinclair podcasts.
Sports Business Journal reported that a Michigan show will be added later this summer.
