There’s no more annoying push notification than when your phone constantly asks if you want to update the operating system. It’s always a treacherous button push; one wrong move and you won’t be able to use your phone for a length of time that is always too long.

There are a few specifically bad times to update your phone; ahead of a long flight or car ride, for example. But what if you’re a reporter, in the middle of covering one of the most important days of the year for your sport? That has to be among the worst possible circumstances, and that’s exactly what ESPN’s Brian Windhorst did tonight:

That’s a classic smartphone mistake, akin to oversleeping after hitting the “alarm off” button instead of the snooze. (Uh, may or may not be speaking from personal experience there.)

The outage was noticeable, as Windhorst went more than two hours between tweets:

It can happen to anyone, Brian. Way to keep your head up.
