A day after the Dallas Mavericks selected Duke star Cooper Flagg with the first overall pick in the 2025 NBA Draft, ESPN announced Flagg’s NBA Summer League debut.
ESPN PR announced on X (formerly Twitter) that Flagg’s debut will come on Thursday, July 10. Their opponents will be “the Lakers and Bronny James.”
That game will get underway at 8 p.m. Eastern and will be Game 1 of a doubleheader on ESPN. The second game, scheduled to begin at 10, will pit the No. 2 and No. 3 picks of the 2025 NBA Draft against each other, with Dylan Harper and the San Antonio Spurs taking on V.J. Edgecombe and the Philadelphia 76ers.
Flagg was 2025’s presumed No. 1 pick for months leading into the NBA Draft. In his lone season at Duke, Flagg averaged 19.2 points, 7.5 rebounds and 4.2 assists per game while shooting 48.1% from the field, 38.5% on threes and 84% on free throws. James, the son of LeBron James, was a second-round pick of the Lakers in 2024, played in 27 games for Los Angeles during his rookie season.
