Following LSU’s wild 46-41 victory over Alabama on Saturday, WRBL (Columbus, GA) reporter Jack Patterson found himself frustrated as he tried to nail his taped stand-up segment from Bryant-Denny Stadium. Patterson stopped his report attempt, and yelled “Dang it!” in frustration.
Just seconds later, his eyes lit up as he was approached by Marty Smith. The veteran ESPN reporter saw a moment he can totally relate to.
“Do you want to know the hardest part, the hardest part of our job? It’s what you’re doing right now. The taped stand-up? Hate ’em. I hate ’em, man… If you’re live and you kind of mess up, whatever, you just keep on diggin’. This thing you want to be just perfect. I can’t stand ’em.”
This is very real, genuine, and awesome stuff from Smith (keep in mind that he had no idea anybody would see this video). And the reaction from Patterson is also fantastic.
So damn cool.
Patterson has been blown away by the immediate support on social media.
Keep grinding, Jack.
