ACC Network is bolstering its men’s basketball coverage.
ESPN announced Tuesday that former Syracuse star Michael Carter-Williams will join ACC Network as both a studio and game analyst. The 2014 NBA Rookie of the Year will make his game analyst debut alongside play-by-play commentator Anish Shroff on January 25th for a Clemson-Virginia Tech game.
Ironically, Carter-Williams never played for Syracuse while they were a member of the ACC. His last year with the Orange ended with a Final Four run in 2013, just a few months before Syracuse officially joined the conference.
Carter-Williams will begin an extensive studio schedule for ACC Network on Tuesday evening where he will appear on the channel’s studio shows ACC PM and Nothing But Net along with the network’s halftime shows.
“My time playing at Syracuse are a few of the best years of my life, and I’m thrilled to return to college ball in this capacity,” Carter-Williams said in a press release. “The ACC is synonymous with basketball greatness, and I’m excited to dive right in with my new teammates at ESPN and ACC Network.”
ACC fans can expect to see Carter-Williams appear each Tuesday and Wednesday throughout the remainder of the season.
At some point during the season, it’s possible Carter-Williams joins his former college coach Jim Boeheim in the ACC Network studio as the legendary coach makes spot appearances as an analyst for the channel. That’s not yet on the schedule, at least through January, but would certainly be a cool moment for fans of the Orange.
