The new ESPN Radio morning show co-hosted by Mike Golic and Trey Wingo officially has a start date.
According to an ESPN release, Golic & Wingo will debut Nov. 27, 10 days after Mike & Mike, with Golic and Mike Greenberg, ends its nearly 18-year run.
The Golic-Wingo partnership was rumored for months, then reported on May 2 and officially announced by ESPN two weeks later. Golic & Wingo will air from 6-10 a.m. ET every weekday, with Golic’s son Mike Jr. joining the program from 6-7 a.m.
“With Mike & Mike ending later this year, I am looking forward to the opportunity to begin the next chapter of the ESPN morning show with Trey and my son Mike,” the elder Golic said in a statement when the show was announced. “Both men will bring new and interesting voices to our morning conversations and help to create a fresh fun show for our audience. I appreciate the loyalty of those who have started their mornings with us over the years and hope they continue to do so for years to come.”

ESPN will give its new morning radio partnership a trial run this week, with Golic and Wingo hosting Mike & Mike together Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, while Greenberg slides over to co-host The Michael Kay Show, alongside Don La Greca, on ESPN New York 98.7. (Only in radio can you have Mike and Trey hosting a show called Mike & Mike, as guys named Greenberg and La Greca host The Michael Kay show.)
The build-up to the inevitable Golic-Wingo show has been a bit of a headache for everyone. Greenberg’s departure from Mike & Mike unfolded over several months, from a report that he might leave to report that he would leave, to a confirmation that he was out, to a report that he and Golic might not last to the scheduled end of their show, to complaints from both hosts about how the whole thing played out.
Though the Greenberg-Golic partnership has been wildly successful for all involved, you have to figure is about ready to get to November and begin the Golic and Wingo era.
