ESPN host Shae Peppler Cornette has quickly climbed up the ranks at the network, becoming a regular host on SportsCenter in addition to serving as a fill-in host of First Take. But on Friday, Peppler Cornette paid homage to her former place of employment as beat reporter for the Chicago Bears in light of a recent photo of her wearing Packers gear on an assignment to Lambeau Field for the network’s 50 States in 50 Days tour.
As a part of the network’s tour, Peppler Cornette and Ryan Clark were in Wisconsin to cover the Packers opening week of training camp. And a part of her assignment was to wear a Packers shirt, which obviously pained her considering her past covering the Bears for a number of local stations in Chicago, including Fox 32 and ABC 7, prior to her big break at ESPN.
In a post to her story on Instagram where she was wearing the Packers shirt, she shared a funny message to her followers who remember her covering the Bears, simply apologizing to them by saying that it was strictly the “hand she was dealt” as a part of her assignment to be in Lambeau Field.
“I’m sorry Bears fans…this was the hand I was dealt,” wrote Peppler Cornette.
Chances are, when the Bears face off against the Packers for the first time in 2025 on December 7, Peppler Cornette will be in full support of the team she covered for years, the Bears. But given how poorly the Bears have fared against the Packers in the last couple of decades, it’s understandable how some Bears fans may feel a bit betrayed by Peppler Cornett donning the green and yellow.
