On Wednesday, MLB Network teased a Greg Maddux documentary, One of a Kind, on social media.

One of a Kind is part of the MLB Network Presents docuseries, which has profiled various teams and players over the years. Some past subjects include George Brett, Don Mattingly, Billy Martin, Tony Gwynn, Dave Parker, Johnny Bench, and Ken Griffey Jr, among many others.
We can report that the project is in production and still filming. A specific release date has yet to be announced, though August is being targeted.
Interviews already conducted include Maddux, Rick Sutcliffe, Randy Johnson, and long-time Braves teammates Chipper Jones, Tom Glavine, John Smoltz, and Eddie Perez, Maddux’s long-time personal catcher in Atlanta.
One of a Kind will profile Maddux’s career, pitching style and approach, the 1992 free agency negotiations that brought him to Atlanta, and his post-playing career life in Las Vegas.
The MLB Network Presents series typically delivers in terms of storytelling and includes glorious amounts of archival footage. I’d expect One of a Kind to check those boxes easily. I’m also interested in how the part about the 1992 free agency saga goes. How close was Maddux to signing with the Yankees, and how close were the Braves to signing Barry Bonds instead? That would have had one hell of a butterfly effect on MLB history.

I hate your favorite team. I also sort of hate most of my favorite teams.
