This past weekend, ITV Racing presenter Luke Harvey took a break from the action on the track to sample some very spicy chicken wings on live television.
The fact that we’re writing about it gives you a good sense of how things went.
Harvey was all decked out while covering horse racing in York, donning a beige Panama hat, when he approached the Yuzu food stand.
“I’ve heard all about you lot,” Harvey said to the man behind the counter. “‘Hottest chicken wings in Great Britain,’ is that true?”
“That is potentially true,” replied the Yuzu server.
Harvey then orders those aforementioned heatseekers, which are their “Korean hot wings…with signature hot sauce.” He carefully picks one up, takes a big bite, considers the heat for a moment, and then completely loses it.
The best part is that Harvey, wandering through the crowd in search of anything to help cut the heat, decides to help himself to a Guinness that a complete stranger is holding. The man doesn’t put up much of a fight, making it seem as though that was all pre-planned, but it’s still great to watch the presenter down half a pint to soothe his burning mouth, which appears to be on fire.
“They are hot,” Harvey tells a table of onlookers. “They are hot, I’m telling you. I’m going home.”
There are plenty of jokes to be made about British people and spicy food, and we’ll leave it to you to make them now.
