Alex Curry made an announcement on the latest episode of the Flippin’ Bats with Ben Verlander podcast.
Curry, who co-hosted the digital podcast since 2022, announced her departure over the weekend. This decision comes due to a scheduling conflict and the show’s transition from a studio format. The Fox Sports reporter will no longer be a regular co-host as the podcast undergoes changes.
“With the schedule looking different and obviously the show moving from the studio, that is a wrap for me on Flippin’ Bats,” she said. “And I just want to give a big thank you to the entire crew, community, fanbase. This was an incredible couple of years that we had on this show; so much fun…I worked in baseball for 10 years, but I got to cover my first World Series on this show. And it was so cool. But I’m still around you guys, and you can still hang out with me every Saturday on Fox Sports Radio from 1-3 p.m. (Pacific Time) and some more exciting things coming up.”
“I am so appreciative of you, Alex,” Ben Verlander said. “For what, about two years? This has been so great having you a part of the show for as long as we got to, doing some of the cool things like we mentioned earlier…You have made this show better and helped grow it into what it has, and I’m just really, really appreciative.”
Regarding the schedule, with this being the Fox Summer of Soccer, the digital studio will be dedicated to covering the UEFA EURO 2024 and Copa América 2024 soccer tournaments. As a result, Flippin’ Bats will have a different schedule going forward, which has led to some changes, including Curry’s announced departure.
Curry is a host and reporter for Fox Sports, contributing to the network’s soccer and college football coverage. She also serves as a fill-in host on FS1 studio programming and previously covered the Los Angeles Angels and Los Angeles Kings on Bally Sports West.
Verlander has yet to address some of the changes coming to the program but acknowledged that he’ll be sharing them with his listeners and followers in the coming days.
