One week after shaking up its daytime schedule, FS1’s new daily programming schedule — and Danny Parkins’ future at the network — have been finalized.
According to Front Office Sports’ Ryan Glasspiegel, First Things First is set to add a third hour, which will run from 5-6 p.m. ET. The new hour will feature Parkins, who joined the Fox Sports cable channel from 670 The Score in Chicago a year ago as a part of its new morning show, Breakfast Ball.
Breakfast Ball‘s run, however, ultimately lasted less than one year. Last week, FS1 overhauled its daytime programming lineup by cancelling the program along with The Facility and Speak, the latter of which previously aired from 5-7 p.m. ET.
As FS1 appeared to have a massive void in its daily schedule, news quickly emerged regarding a new partnership with Barstool Sports, which was officially announced just days later. The deal will see Barstool host a show out of its Chicago office that will air on FS1 from 8-10 a.m. ET, before being replayed over the ensuing two hours. Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy is also joining the cast of Fox’s Big Noon Kickoff college football pregame show as a part of the agreement.
While it’s still unclear how FS1 will fill its 6 p.m. hour., the channel’s new lineup has now been finalized, with Colin Cowherd’s The Herd remaining in the 12-3 p.m. ET window. It’s not a surprise that the new lineup also includes a spot for Parkins, who appears to be the lone talent holdover from last week’s cuts, which also cemented the end of Joy Taylor’s FS1 tenure.
In many ways, First Things First is a natural fit for Parkins, who is close friends with the show’s star, Nick Wright. Just one day after FS1’s cuts were first announced last week, the former Chicago radio host filled in for the fellow Syracuse alum on the show, alongside co-hosts Kevin Wildes and Chris Broussard.
In addition to Parkins joining the program, Glasspiegel also reports that Eric Mangini and Greg Jennings are expected to remain regular contributors on First Things First. It has yet to be announced when FS1’s new daytime lineup will debut.
