Fox Sports horse racing analyst Paul Lo Duca revealed this week he’s recovering from a “bad accident,” which explains his recent absence from the network.

Better known to many as a four-time MLB All-Star catcher from 1998 through 2008, Lo Duca’s absence from Fox Sports’ Saratoga Live had puzzled many viewers in recent weeks. Lo Duca solved that mystery with a social media post Wednesday.

“I want to thank everyone for their thoughts and prayers,” Lo Duca wrote on X. “I was involved in a bad accident coming back home to New York from Oaklawn. I was not able to eat for the first couple weeks because of multiple fractures but I’m getting stronger!”

Going from MLB star to horse racing analyst might seem an unlikely career move, but Lo Duca has been tracking the horses since 2009. He joined Saratoga Live as an analyst and handicapper in 2017.

Fans shared well wishes for Lo Duca on social media, including one who sent him a photo of their new filly.
