Sports broadcasting hazards are usually more mental than physical, but there are occasional moments where broadcast personnel take a physical shot. It’s more typical to see that with camera operators than with studio personnel, though. But Carlos Orduz, a reporter/anchor for ESPN Colombia, ran into quite the unusual hazard Tuesday night during an ESPN FC Radio broadcast, with a piece of the set falling on him and the program’s host quickly throwing to break:
On Wednesday, though, as that video circulated, Orduz issued a video statement saying he was okay:
He then tweeted about it as well:

It’s good to hear that Orduz wasn’t seriously hurt here. This is certainly an unfortunate thing to have happen on a broadcast, and it could have ended badly. Thank goodness it didn’t in this case.
