Whistle Studios (the production arm of Team Whistle) and content producer Insight TV have announced plans to create and distribute the docuseries “Making (Her)Story,” which follows three rising female athletes in traditionally male-dominated sports. The Wrap was the first to report.
The series will feature NASCAR driver Natalie Decker, horse jockey Hollie Doyle, and Formula 4 driver Emily Linscott as they “battle competitors, stereotyping, and public doubt.”
While the two media partners are currently looking for a U.S. distributor to release the docuseries, it will premiere internationally on Insight TV, Team Whistle’s OTT network Whistle TV, and on their digital channels.
At 23-years-old, Natalie Decker competes part-time in the NASCAR Xfinity Series and has also competed in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series and the ARCA Menards Series. Her ultimate goal, per the Whistle Studio bios provided, is to race at the highest level in NASCAR at the Cup Series. Decker does all of this while suffering from rheumatoid arthritis.
“I’ve battled stereotypes and overcome barriers from very early on in my career,” Decker said. “I’m so excited to share my story and hope to inspire female athletes, women in male-dominated fields, and audiences around the world to pursue their dreams and achieve their goals.”
Hollie Doyle, the daughter of two jockeys, has excelled in the sport on her own. In 2019, she set a record for winners ridden in a British season by a female jockey with 116 victories. She also finished third in the Flat Jockeys Championship in 2020, the highest result for a woman to date.
Emily Linscott was awarded the PHM Powering Diversity Scholarship for the 2021 F4 United States Championship and is the first and only female to stand on the podium in the Lucas Formula Championship Class. Her dream, per Whistle Studio, is to one day race at the Indianapolis 500.
