NFL Network analyst and Hall of Fame wide receiver Michael Irvin announced on Instagram that he underwent a biopsy after months of voice issues.

As Irvin noted in his post, he lost his voice in November and then struggled to regain it for months. Irvin also has a family history of throat cancer, as his father died from the disease at 51. The Cowboys organization offered their support for Irvin:

He has received thousands of well wishes on Instagram, including many from current and former NFL players. The Jones family also offered their support late Tuesday when reporters relayed Irvin’s post.

“It’s scary, but bet on Michael,” Cowboys chief operating officer Stephen Jones said from the annual NFL meeting in Phoenix. “He’ll compete. That’s for sure.”

Plenty of other voices lent their support via Instagram comments, as well. A small selection:

Troy Aikman: “Lots of love and support for you Irv – sending prayers my man!

Rich Eisen: “Nothing but love and prayers for my receiver. You sounded great today, Irv, and know this is all going to be OK.”

Jerry Rice: “I’m praying for you brother!!!!”

Hopefully Irvin gets good news on his tests and makes a full recovery.
