New Orleans Pelicans fans can breathe easy knowing there will be a pair of familiar voices returning to the broadcast booth next season.

The franchise announced on Monday that the veteran announcing duo of play-by-play commentator Joel Meyers and analyst Antonio Daniels will be returning for their seventh season together after signing multiyear extensions. Meyers will enter his 14th season with the team, while Daniels began in 2019.

“New Orleans has become home for me, and I’m honored to continue calling games for a franchise that’s on the rise in a city I love,” Meyers said in a statement, per NOLA.com. “We have a special group here — on the court and in the community — and I’m thankful to be part of the journey. Our fans are as passionate as any in the league, and I can’t wait to see what’s next.”

Meyers came to New Orleans from Los Angeles, where he spent six seasons as the Lakers’ play-by-play voice on TV. Prior to that, he spent two years as the Lakers’ lead radio voice, four years as the San Antonio Spurs’ TV voice, and also completed stints at ESPN and NBC covering a wide range of sports.

Daniels played 14 seasons in the NBA, including one in New Orleans from 2008-09. Following his playing career, Daniels entered television as a studio analyst for Bally Sports Oklahoma and Bally Sports Southwest from 2015-19.

“It is a true blessing to continue with this amazing organization and incredible fan base,” Daniels said in a statement. “I’m excited and eager about the direction the Pelicans are headed in with a young, exciting team full of talent and potential. The culture is on the move. I am blessed to get to continue telling these stories and sharing my knowledge and insight about the game I love and am so passionate about. I look forward to continuing to connect and engage with these fans who make this job so rewarding on so many levels.”

The Pelicans are one of a handful of NBA teams to have ditched regional sports networks in recent years for a “stream and beam” approach. Fans can access Pelicans games on a number of local over-the-air affiliates in Louisiana and surrounding states, or purchase a direct-to-consumer streaming service to watch game broadcasts.
