Hello, old friend. It’s good to see you.

Before the 2025 Major League Baseball season, we were saddened to learn that NBC Sports Philadelphia was introducing a new scorebug for Philadelphia Phillies games. As such, we would no longer be able to witness the iconic POOP anagram whenever a game against the Pittsburgh Pirates was scoreless. The “POOP Series” would never be the same.

POOP made an unexpected return on NBC Sports Philadelphia+ during a spring training game, but it officially ceased to exist once the regular season started. In May, NBC Sports Philadelphia eulogized the end of an era during the first Phillies-Pirates game of the year.

“Before we continue with this telecast, we have to address what is on everybody’s minds and hearts,” Phillies announcer Tom McCarthy said, with somber music playing in the background. “July 29, 2022, our beloved scorebug first lit up the screens here with Phillies television. It was more than just a scoreboard. It was a legend. An unforgettable icon. Its name, once met with chuckles, quickly became synonymous with good times and fierce rivalries. As the final out arrives on its bright and brilliant run, it will be missed. Gone but never forgotten.”

You can’t keep a good POOP down, however. During Saturday’s Phillies-Pirates game, NBC Sports Philly caught two fans donning t-shirts emblazoned with the iconic scorebug.

“Well, we don’t have POOP, we have a PIIP,” said McCarthy, noting the 1-1 score of the game. We appreciate the effort, but it just doesn’t have the same appeal.

The big question now is, where does one get a shirt like that? It appears that Etsy is your best bet, although you can also find one on… Walmart.com? Your move, Amazon.
