Kevin Durant is once again at odds with Kendrick Perkins over comments made by Perk regarding their time as teammates.
Who was the leader of the Oklahoma City Thunder teams of the early-mid 2010s? Speaking on NBA Today, Perkins insisted that it was him. Perkins noted that while he was on the same team as future NBA MVPs and surefire Hall of Famers in Durant, Russell Westbrook and James Harden, the leader of the team was himself. He even noted that “leader” and “best player” don’t always go hand-in-hand.
“It doesn’t mean your best player is your leader,” Perkins said, H/T NBA Stream on X. “When I was with the Thunder, it wasn’t KD, it wasn’t Russ, it wasn’t James, I was the one leading.”
Durant, though, remembers it differently.
“I know this may be a reach but this comment is by far the craziest s*** I’ve seen this week,” he replied.
Durant and Perkins have had several verbal sparring matches since their time as teammates came to an end in 2015. That notably includes comments about their time as teammates.
So it should come as a surprise to nobody that they found themselves on opposing sides here.
