While Shannon Spake will no longer be gracing the sidelines for Fox Sports this NFL season, she has some exciting new ventures to report. Earlier in September, NASCAR announced three new shows, including a truTV playoff special featuring Spake.
NASCAR Inside the Playoffs will air Thursday nights on truTV and Max and features the return of longtime studio host Shannon Spake along with NBC race analyst Steve Letarte. Dylan Smith and Jordan Bianchi will also be a part of the show, as will a series of rotating sets of current and former drivers.
Spake had been at Fox Sports for years as an NFL reporter and host of NASCAR Race Hub. However, the show was abruptly canceled this season as the last remaining show from the FS1 original lineup. Spake will also host a NASCAR daily show on the series YouTube channel and other platforms.
But that’s not all she’s added to her resume. Bally Sports Southeast announced that Spake would join their Charlotte Hornets coverage as a host and reporter. Spake replaces Ashley ShahAhmadi, who revealed her departure on Sunday, Sept. 9, just a few weeks after she announced she would be a college football sideline reporter for ESPN, working alongside Jay Alter and Rocky Boiman.
As for Spake, she’ll be returning to where it all started, joining the team of Eric Collins, Dell Curry and Terrence Oglesby.
She posted a few pictures on X (formerly Twitter) of a snapshot in time back to when she covered the then-Charlotte Bobcats.
“20 years ago my first “big time” sports job was covering the Hornets (aka Bobcats)! Now this! Thrilled to be back home,” she wrote.
