Some of the best cold takes are the ones that get noticed by their subject. That’s what happened Monday night after the Clemson Tigers knocked off Alabama 35-31 to win the national championship, and Tigers’ head coach Dabo Swinney called out Fox Sports’ Colin Cowherd:
Here’s the clip of when Cowherd called Clemson “a fraud” on FS1/Fox Sports Radio’s The Herd back in late November, saying they’d get “punched in the ear” and lose in the playoff:
“Clemson’s a fraud. Clemson’s going to get their ears boxed by whoever they play. They should have three losses, maybe four. I don’t buy into Clemson. They’re the New York Giants of college football. I don’t buy into it. And I had Clemson in the final four, so I should be rooting for them. I don’t have any dog in the fight here. I think USC’s the second-best team in the country, Vegas agrees.”
Well, Swinney and Clemson certainly had the last laugh on Cowherd in this case.
