Brent Musburger went off on critics, doubled down to wish Joe Mixon “A wonderful career” – Jan 3.
Brent Musburger handled talking about Joe Mixon poorly. The ESPN commentator was criticized online, but doubled down on wishing that Mixon would learn from his mistake and become an NFL pro.
Former WWE announcer and ESPN anchor Todd Grisham joins UFC broadcast team – Jan. 4
After stints at with WWE and ESPN, Todd Grisham signed onto work with the UFC. Grisham will do play-by-play work for UFC cards on FS1 and appear as a studio host for the network.
Trent Dilfer had to apologize for taking serious dig at Adam Schefter – Jan. 4
After suggesting the New England Patriots wanted a Sam Bradford-like package for quarterback Jimmy Garappolo, Adam Schefter had a shot taken at him by ESPN colleague Trent Dilfer. Dilfer implied the Patriots were using Schefter to improve the market for the young quarterback. Schefter was not thrilled, and Dilfer eventually apologized for his comments.
Chris Berman stepping down from several ESPN hosting duties – Jan. 5
In a move that was both expected and surprising, Chris Berman stepped down from most of his duties at ESPN. Berman walked away from hosting ESPN’s Sunday NFL Countdown and both the NFL Draft and MLB Home Run Derby. Berman’s role with the network will be limited going forward, but he will still work on select projects.
