While the Kansas City Chiefs looked terrible in the first half of Super Bowl LIX, falling behind 24-0, they were taking a beating on social media, too.
The jokes and memes flew and the critics were out in force ripping the Chiefs’ performance against the Philadelphia Eagles.
Some clear winners quickly emerged in terms of creativity, namely the fans drawing comparisons between the Chiefs and Alabama’s situation regarding the recent College Football Playoff.
Recall all the drama surrounding the CFP committee’s decision to leave the Crimson Tide out of the playoff, with many analysts and the team’s fans saying the 9-3 SEC team would be a stronger pick than, say, SMU.
Then Alabama went out and lost to shorthanded Michigan in the ReliaQuest Bowl.
Some sports media pros joked the Chiefs were throwing off that Alabama vibe Sunday night.
