While he’s not an active participant in Super Bowl LIX, Skip Bayless found time to rant against LeBron James during the second quarter.
The Philadelphia Eagles took a 17-0 lead on the Kansas City Chiefs in the second quarter when Cooper DeJean scored on a 38-yard pick-six following an interception of Patrick Mahomes.
Bayless saw DeJean’s big play as the perfect chance to rant about LeBron James.
“HEY, LEBRON, THAT GUY WHO JUST PICK SIXED MAHOMES … HIS NAME IS COOPER DEJEAN. MAYBE HE DOESN’T LOOK LIKE HE CAN PLAY CORNERBACK IN THE NFL, BUT HE’S ON HIS WAY TO BEING A STAR OF A STUD! 17-0 FLY, EAGLES, FLY,” Bayless shared on X, formerly Twitter.
Now, it’s possible that you’re thinking something like, “LeBron James is a basketball player. Why does he have anything to do with what’s happening in the Super Bowl — an NFL game?” If you are thinking that, you’re not alone.
Of course, it must be said that LeBron James has been a frequent target of Skip Bayless throughout his career.
But Bayless has usually reserved those rants for something LeBron actually did — or failed to do.
And fair is fair. If we’re going to criticize LeBron James when Patrick Mahomes makes a mistake, we must also give him credit for Mahomes’ better moments. So, LeBron, congratulations on your two NFL MVPs and three Super Bowl MVPs in as many Super Bowl wins.
