Mike McCarthy is in his final weeks as head coach of the Dallas Cowboys in all likelihood. The last thing he needs is a serious head injury on the way out.
The Dallas Cowboys lost to the Cincinnati Bengals on Monday Night Football in bizarre circumstances 27-20 after a blocked punt fiasco brought up memories of Leon Lett in the snow on Thanksgiving many years ago. Their season was over a long time ago and with another disappointing season, McCarthy is living on borrowed time in Dallas.
But things almost went from bad to worse right after the game. As Mike McCarthy went for the customary postgame handshake with Bengals coach Zac Taylor, he had to keep his head on a swivel to avoid making head-on contact with a cameraman.
Yikes! That was a close call. Maybe Mike McCarthy would have been better off taking Micah Parsons’ lead and walking off the field to the locker room before the clock hit zeroes, at least for his personal health and safety. Thankfully, he was able to show some fairly quick reaction time and elusiveness to avoid potential disaster.
You know things are going bad for you when you’re the head coach of the Dallas Cowboys and a cameraman is totally oblivious to your presence so they can get a close-up shot of the head coach of the Cincinnati Bengals. And the Bengals aren’t even any good either! What kind of bizarro world are we living in! But that’s the reality for America’s Team, and their likely soon to be former head coach.
