While he may be one of college football’s biggest personalities, Shedeur Sanders maintains a relatively mundane presence on social media.
Dig a little deeper, however, and you might find some clues regarding the Colorado star quarterback’s plans for the future.
At least that’s what some social media sleuths believe after taking a close examination of Sanders’ weekly post that reads “Thank you GOD.” As noted by @WalikWillis on X, the vast majority of the posts have come after Las Vegas Raiders losses — a potential indication that the projected top pick in the 2025 NFL Draft is hopeful to land with the franchise.
It goes without saying that any evidence that Sanders’ posts are actually about the Raiders is circumstantial, as best. Most obviously, the posts have come Sundays, which makes sense considering their religious nature. And that also happens to be the same day that Las Vegas has suffered all seven of its losses this season, with Sanders thanking God after each of the Raiders’ last four defeats.
It is, however, worth noting that while the 2022 SWAC Offensive Player of the Year began his weekly posts of praise on Sept. 22, he conveniently abstained from doing so on Sept. 29. That happened to be the same day the Raiders beat the Cleveland Browns for their second and — most recent — victory of the 2024 campaign.
Sanders resumed the posts a week later, admittedly a day prior to the Raiders’ loss to the Denver Broncos. Each of the posts since, however, have come on Sunday and either after or during Las Vegas’ losses.
Obviously, this could all be a huge coincidence and there’s plenty of evidence to suggest that being the likeliest explanation. Still, when factoring in that Deion Sanders, has already publicly approved of the Raiders as a potential destination for his son and Shedeur’s pre-existing relationship with part-owner Tom Brady and it’s at least worth monitoring when his future praise of God comes in relation to Las Vegas’ inevitable upcoming losses.
