Stephen A. Smith has takes about Jeffrey Epstein. People are angered and confused by those Stephen A. Smith takes. And Stephen A. Smith doesn’t care.
Smith was stopped by TMZ in New York on Friday. And after a question about preparing his physique for his General Hospital role (yes, really), the First Take star was asked about the criticism of his astonishing take on Jeffrey Epstein while appearing on NewsNation with Chris Cuomo.
And in true SAS form, he not only dismissed the criticism, but did so in a way that flaunted his starpower and ability to do anything from trolling the Dallas Cowboys to acting in daytime soap operas to offering his opinions on all things politics.
“What I have to say is that I don’t care, and the reason that I don’t care is because everybody has an opinion, number one. Number two, I get paid for mine. Number three and most importantly, it’s my opinion based on the facts as presented. I’m not getting personal. I’m not deriding or denigrating anybody. I’m just calling it like I see it when asked. Or when it’s part of my job. That’s what I do for a living and last time I checked, there’s a whole bunch of people out here trying to do what I do. So that’s the way it goes,” Smith said.
During the appearance last week with Cuomo, Smith said he didn’t care about the so-called Epstein Files and further professed that in his view, neither did America. Smith’s lack of interest in learning the whole truth about Epstein and the extent of his crimes and who else may be included in the alleged sex trafficking ring involving underage girls was surprising to say the least. And it’s been a take that has been echoed by Donald Trump himself.
As Stephen A. Smith gives wild and controversial political takes like this one, maybe it’s for the best that all that talk about a presidential run has died off. At least for now.
