ESPN’s lineup of tentpole daily studio shows all had strong performances in April.
To start the day, Get Up averaged 382,000 viewers in the month, its most-watched April ever, and a 9% increase from 2023. Viewership has also slightly ticked up over the last three months, going from 368,000 viewers in February to 375,000 in March before increasing again in April.
First Take also had its most-watched April ever. The show averaged 482,000 viewers, the 21st month in a row its viewership has increased on a year-to-year basis. Unlike Get Up, viewership for First Take has slightly slipped this year, going from 504,000 viewers in February to 486,000 in March and slipping once more in April.
The Pat McAfee Show‘s viewership increased in April compared to other studio programming in 2023. The show’s audience was up 37% compared to studio programming, though the TV audience was only up by 2%. Across both the traditional linear broadcast and YouTube, it averaged 389,000 viewers in April, excluding its NFL Draft simulcast. Counting all platforms, including TikTok, Instagram, and X, the show racked up 392 million views.
With March Madness and the NFL Draft behind us, we’ll see if ESPN’s daily lineup can keep the continued gains going with a live sports schedule filled up with the NBA and NHL Playoffs, along with the ongoing MLB season (I know, I know) and the start of the WNBA season.
