"What the f*ck was Doc supposed to do in that position?"
A clip from the ESPN days of JJ Redick went viral as he blasted Doc Rivers for making excuses which sounded a lot like his own comments.
"I can’t believe Doc wanted that out there."
"These mistakes can't happen."
"Might as well come on over."
"If you’re a Black man or a woman, or Brown, Latino or Puerto Rican or — they hit everybody. And it was awful."
"I feel for him."
ESPN is seeking a new analyst for its top NBA booth alongside Mike Breen and Doris Burke.
"I can't find the guy or the woman responsible for this report."
"I told you, I'm not a sports fan."
"I'm not saying he's 100 percent in shape, but he's built a little bit different than Laurence Fishburne."
"I really hope he gets the job because...he’ll realize, not as easy as you think."
"So we probably had about two minutes, and I was like 'Where is this coming from?' And they're like 'CNN.'"
"I know the Doc thing came across as personal, of course it was personal, because I played for him for four years."
"I got the impression that JJ Redick’s words weren’t just coming from him."
"Do fans actually want to be educated or not?"
"It's just very ironic and kind of weird that you have this energy toward him, in terms of him never, ever being accountable considering he was always responsible."
"Definitely seems like JJ has something personal against Doc!!"
JJ Redick blasted former ESPN analyst Doc Rivers on Tuesday. NBA player Pat Beverley responded, but so did Redick.
"There's just never accountability with that guy."
Former ESPN NBA analyst Doc Rivers now coaches the Milwaukee Bucks, but if it were up to him, that decision would have been made later.
"It’s hard, man. Like Doc [Rivers] as a player … Me and Doc have a good relationship, but I’ve never heard anybody say anything good about Doc -- a player."
