Mike Breen: Diminishing access to NBA players ‘hurts’ broadcasts, fan experience
"...I think it's an essential part [of a broadcast] ... that's what makes me care so much about the league."
"...I think it's an essential part [of a broadcast] ... that's what makes me care so much about the league."
"Over the history of Draymond's career, it feels like there's been a double standard."
"We built for this sh*t"
"It's nonstop. It's continuous."
"Clyde will be back for Game 5"
"All this stuff going on and they call that. It’s got to be more consistent so the players know how much they can do and how much they can’t"
Mike Breen has taken the rare step of criticizing the league for taking playoff games off local RSNs in their next TV deal.
During ESPN's broadcast of the Pistons-Knicks playoff game, Mike Breen had special praise for Marv Albert in the MSG crowd.
"We're gonna miss her like crazy. But she is gonna be a slam dunk for their first-year coverage next year."
"What I find so fascinating about Richard is he has, moreso than J.J. and I, this very natural understanding that TV broadcasting is an entertainment medium"
"And you can feel it in this arena, the love they've got for this guy."
"That play indicative of Beal's season, folks."
"I’m just like on a magic carpet ride when I’m thinking about being 80 years old, man! I can’t believe it."
"I can't think of a more fitting person to get that type of treatment here at Madison Square Garden."
"You guys know I love Breen but bad job by him and Richard Jefferson there."
"Alright, if somebody hits a game-winning shot in a Finals game, maybe that will do it..."
"41 minutes tonight. You feeling okay?"
Mikal Bridges was the recipient of the latest 'double bang' from the legendary Mike Breen for his buzzer beater against the Blazers.
"I’m happy for him and I think that’s a great crew."
"I have so much respect for the voices of our game."
Jefferson's contract is reportedly up after this season.
"The thing was that I thought that it didn't work."
"To have this being a thrilling ride right now and not be able to watch it, I couldn't imagine."
Is ESPN's approach to this NBA season coming back to bite it?
"There’s a lot more for this game than me just saying goodbye."
