The new NASCAR Chase format has definitely amped up the intensity.  Sunday at Texas saw the second fight in four weeks after the race.  And once again, it involved former champ Brad Keselowski.

After being jumped by Matt Kenseth in the garage area in Charlotte, this time it was Jeff Gordon who came for Keselowski’s head.  Keselowski bumped into Gordon charging for the lead after a green-white-checkered restart.  After the contact, Gordon spun thanks to a flat tire.  Keselowski would go on to finish third behind Jimmie Johnson and Kevin Harvick.

After the race, Gordon angrily confronted Keselowski.  But incredibly, the fisticuffs only broke out after Harvick came in from out-of-nowhere to shove Keselowski from behind. That gave Gordon the opportunity to swoop in.  It was a distraction Bobby “The Brain” Heenan would be proud of…

Look at ESPN’s Jamie Little in the midst of that standing her ground!  As far as NASCAR fights go, that was a four-star affair.  The drivers even showed some battle scars…

The usually level-headed Gordon even called Keselowski a “dips—” in his post-race interview.  I wonder what Hank Hill would say about this version of Gordon:

If Jeff Gordon cussin’ and fightin’ doesn’t help NASCAR’s sagging ratings, what will?
