After announcing his long-running sports radio show’s move to X leading up to the Super Bowl, Jim Rome finally gave an update this week.
The nationally syndicated show will stream live through Rome’s account each day on X (formerly Twitter) while continuing to broadcast live on radio throughout the country as part of Audacy and Westwood One’s Infinity Sports Network.
“This radio program is going to launch on the X platform … May 28,” Rome announced. “In terms of the audio, nothing is going to change. Nothing will change on the radio side. We’re still on all our radio affiliates, we’re still on Sirius XM.”
The move marks the first streaming venture for “The Jungle,” which was previously simulcast on CBS Sports Network.
Rome also debuted a new studio as part of the announcement.
“We have never, ever streamed our content,” Rome said. “Even for the X platform, this is a relatively new thing, longform programming.”
X owner Elon Musk has emphasized video content since buying Twitter nearly two years ago and taking it private. He scored a big win on that side of the business last year when conservative host Tucker Carlson began publishing his show to X after leaving Fox News.
A similar deal with Don Lemon fell apart last year after an interview with Musk for the debut episode was not to Musk’s liking.
Musk recently made a plea for more Twitch streamers to come to X.
The Jim Rome Show will be the first sports program to stream live on X.
While X remains a place where sports fans come together to interact and chat about news and games, the social media site has taken a traffic hit under Musk, with increased bot and spam issues plus a plunge in ad revenue.
Rome’s show is popular, and if Musk can continue to score deals with prominent video creators and broadcasters, perhaps that can bolster the platform anew.
The Jim Rome Show airs weekdays from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. ET.
