On Thursday, Bill Plaschke of LA Times and Around the Horn fame hosted Petros and Money while regular host Petros Papadakis was prepping for Friday's Cotton Bowl. Plaschke began the show on a strange note, by talking about the movie Sessions and a Helen Hunt nude scene. He also said that the hour and a half movie took him four hours to watch because of pausing, rewinding, and slow motion on Plaschke's end. The conversation then slipped into a discussion about which was the better nude scene: Hunt in Sessions, or Rene Russo in the Thomas Crown Affair.
That all led into an equally disturbing conversation about hotel porn and how Kobe Bryant's defense in Colorado rape charges was that he was watching it at the time. Of course, Plaschke then begins to discuss his personal experiences with hotel porn (as if this hadn't gone far enough), and how he'd take advantage of five minute free previews until the hotels got smart and removed the previews.
I'm not personally offended by this at all, but it's still incredibly bizarre and more than a little creepy to share on sports talk radio. I have no idea what Plaschke was trying to go for by leading off the show with this conversation. Was he trying to appeal to a younger demographic? Trying to shake off the old codger stereotype that has been thrust upon him in recent years? All he really did was come off as a creepy old man, and I'm more than a little perplexed at him being so open with his thoughts.
Listen to the below clip, and you'll never look at Bill Plaschke quite the same way on Around the Horn ever again.
