Saturday night's Hockey Night in Canada broadcast of the Buffalo Sabres-Toronto Maple Leafs game was not easy on the eyes. Don Cherry dressed plainly last week out of respect for Remembrance Day, but he was his sartorially splendid self this time around.
Cherry said he wore the suit in support of the Tampa Bay Lightning, general manager Steve Yzerman, and presumably their befallen superstar Steven Stamkos, who suffered a devastating leg injury on Monday.
You might remember the last time Cherry wore this suit on television, back on May 17th during last season's playoffs.
This time, he added a "Winnie the Pooh" Boston Bruins tie for good measure, although representing two teams at once is definitely a faux pas.
Believe it or not, Cherry's suit wasn't the only notable wardrobe choice during the broadcast.
Between-the-benches analyst (and former goaltender) Glenn Healy did this during a stoppage in play:
Healy was paying tribute to long-time Sabres broadcaster Rick Jeanneret, who was also in the building. Jeanneret was forced to call Monday's game against the Los Angeles Kings from between the benches and wear a helmet of his own after the elevator to the broadcast booth broke down prior to puck drop.
The clothing calamities didn't end there.
This one was missed by the broadcast, but up in the press box, Sportsnet 590 The FAN reporter David Alter apparently wanted in on the shenanigans. Globe and Mail reporter James Mirtle got the photographic evidence:

Finally, the CBC crew took a page out of the NBA on TNT book with a Photoshop of recently re-hired Sabres head coach Ted Nolan and newly appointed president of hockey operations Pat LaFontaine:
All in all, it was one of the most memorable regular season hockey broadcasts in a very long time. Even if our eyes needed a good scrubbing afterwards.
