Even in retirement, Randy Moss can still draw an audience. The latest ESPN Films 30 for 30 documentary, Rand University, focusing on Randy Moss’ career at Marshall, gave ESPN its highest premiere numbers since 2012 when “You Don’t Know Bo” made its debut. According to TVbytheNumbers, Rand University had 2.165 million viewers and was the second highest-rated program (1.1) in the 18-49 demographic for all cable programs last Tuesday.
Comparing it to viewership from last year, the 30 for 30 documentary titled “Bernie and Ernie” could only cull 1.1 million viewers. That’s 92% lower than “Rand University.”
The next 30 for 30 premiere will be “The U, Part 2” on December 13. The first part of “The U” was one of the most-watched in the series with almost 2.4 million viewers. That will air on ESPN following the Heisman Trophy presentation at 9 p.m. ET in what has become the top timeslot for the series.
