I get that this is supposed to be facetious and funny, but there’s a little truth in every bit of sarcasm. At the beginning of SportsCenter Saturday morning, Sara Walsh and Bram Weinstein were teasing highlights from baseball and (GASP!) the NHL Playoffs.
Stephen A. Smith then appeared on screen yelling about the NBA… because ESPN pays him hundreds of thousands of dollars to do so. He said, “Do I look like I care about hockey?” Considering Smith doesn’t even know the overtime rules in the NHL for the last decade, it’s safe to say the answer is no.
You know ESPN must be secure with their standing as the self-proclaimed worldwide leader if they’re willing to parody themselves and turn “Stephen A. Smith yells obnoxiously about things” into a comedy bit.
