This is an awesome, heartwarming clip from the last days of Spring Training. Tom Hamilton is one of this website’s favorite local radio announcers. The voice of the Cleveland Indians is a revered figure in Northeast Ohio and known nationwide for his enthusiastic walkoff calls. During Sunday’s Reds-Indians game, Tom was at the park to see his son Nick take his first professional at-bat for, you guessed it, the Cleveland Indians.
The younger Hamilton is a minor leaguer in the Indians system and started at DH. According to Cleveland.com, Tom Hamilton was sitting next to the Indians webcast for the day and declined to broadcast the game because he simply wanted to be a dad and watch his son play. The game was televised by Fox Sports Ohio and Thom Brennaman and the Reds telecast caught Hamilton wiping a tear from his eye in this moment that would make Tom Rinaldi proud.
