Last week, HBO’s Real Sports was honored by the Overseas Press Club for its reporting on the horrific conditions for migrant construction workers who have been building stadiums for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
If you didn’t see the report when it originally aired on HBO last year, here’s a segment:
Real Sports won the “David A. Andelman and Pamela Title Award for Best International Reporting in broadcast media showing a concern for the human condition.” HBO was one of 22 outlets in broadcast, digital and print which won awards.
In fact, it marked the first time that HBO had been cited by the Overseas Press Club. Other winners included Al-Jazeera America, Associated Press, the Los Angeles Times, the New York Times and the Washington Post.
It’s another honor for Real Sports which has won numerous Sports Emmy Awards for journalism, a DuPont Award for outstanding journalism as well as a prestigious Peabody Award in 2012.
HBO’s Real Sports usually airs once a month on Tuesday nights.
