On New Year’s Day, CBS Sports Radio midday host Jim Rome decided to start 2015 with a bang by having a take on college marching bands.
Well, as you can see from the now-deleted Tweet, Romey started something that he really couldn’t finish. Marching bands across the country declared war on Rome and the hashtag campaign #MarchOnRome went viral.

After Rome realized that he was in over his head, he sent out this response on Friday:
Band nation – I hear you. I was out of line. I apologize. I do not condone bullying of any kind and that was not my intent.

And the account CollegeMarchingBands which began the #MarchOnRome campaign promptly replied:
You are now free to leave "band nation" @jimrome but you can never come back #MarchOnRome pic.twitter.com/KoeAiekhOW

Our take? Never mess with college marching bands because they are very militant when attacked. We at Awful Announcing love college marching bands and we wouldn’t have it any other way.
