The 2015-16 NHL season is right around the corner and NHL Network is gearing up for the new year by announcing their talent lineup. Hockey fans should recognize plenty of names on this list as NHL Network aims to provide opinions from former players, front office staff and analysts.
The following individuals will appear on NHL Network’s three studio shows: NHL Live, On The Fly and NHL Tonight.
Kevin Weekes – Veteran goalie.
Scott Stevens – Hall of Famer and 3-time Cup winner.
John MacLean – 20-year NHL veteran.
Dave Reid – 2-time Cup champion.
Mike Rupp – Former NHL enforcer.
Neil Smith – Former NHL executive and GM.
John Tortorella – Upcoming coach of Team USA in the World Cup of Hockey.
Martin Biron – 16-year NHL veteran goalie.
Brian Boucher – 15-year NHL veteran goalie.
Mike Johnson – 12-year NHL veteran forward.
In addition to the lengthy list of analysts above, Steve Mears and E.J. Hradek will anchor NHL Live. Jamison Coyle and Tony Luftman will host NHL Tonight while On The Fly will be hosted by Jamie Hersch. Finally, Kathryn Tappen will once again return to various NHL Network programs in the new year.
Got all that? In summary, NHL Network will have a plethora of analysts and insight to offer up to viewers. However, that’s never been the issue. NHL Network has been plagued by issues for years, from failing to cover big stories in a timely manner (remember when they were among the last to break the news that the lockout had ended?) to not offering consistent content like their counterparts MLB Network and NFL Network. The NHL is bringing in some new faces to help out and it’ll be interesting to follow how things evolve in this space.
