Earlier this week, our Ben Koo in his debut monthly column discussed the Showtime series, “A Season With Notre Dame Football.” If you haven’t seen it, the 13-week series focused on the Notre Dame football program (naturally) showing the machinations of the team both on the field and inside the classroom. It showed Coach Brian Kelly and his staff preparing for each game. While it may not have been heavily promoted or watched, one good thing for the school came out of it. “A Season With Notre Dame Football” became a recruiting tool.
Defensive back Devin Studstill said the series convinced him that Notre Dame was the place to be:
#NotreDame DB commit Devin Studstill, on the impact of @ASeasonWith on his commitment: "What really turned me was the show."

While there’s no word if Showtime will produce a second season of “A Season With Notre Dame Football,” the school has to be pleased that it got something positive from the series. While many NFL coaches feel cameras are nothing but a distraction and treat team as such, it seemed that Coach Kelly and the team embraced them and he saw the dividends pay off with a 4-star recruit like Studstill committing to the school.
If you haven’t seen the show, Showtime has put the 6th and 7th episodes online for free without the need for a cable or satellite login and they can be accessed at its website or at the Showtime Anywhere app.
