The Chicago Blackhawks are your 2015 Stanley Cup champions, and their victory helped NBC to a solid performance in Game 6 to wrap up the series. Their 2-0 win over the Tampa Bay Lightning drew a 5.6 overnight for NBC, the third-highest rating for a Game 6 since 1995.
In Chicago, the game drew an eye-popping 41.0 rating, the best ever for the market. In Tampa, the game drew a 15.2, still the second-best ever for the market.
All in all, not bad. Not bad at all. Through four games, the Final was averaging 4.9 million viewers, behind just Chicago’s victory over Boston through four games in the past 18 years of Stanley Cup Final matchups. Once the final viewership number for Game 6 rolls in, I’d expect this series to finish behind that Blackhawks-Bruins matchup, but likely ahead of all others over the past 18 years. That’ll do, NBC.
